Will devastate Turkey economically if they hit Kurds: Trump

Announcing the pullout of U.S. soldiers from Syria, President Donald Trump threatened Turkey in the early hours of Monday to devastate its economy, if Ankara hits Kurds in Syria.

Mr Trump used relatively a harsh language and directly targeted Turkey after US top officials held a series of unsuccessful talks with Turkish counterparts to secure that Ankara will not attack Kurds following U.S. troops withdrawal from Syria.

US President shared a message on his Twitter account as he is saying: “Starting the long overdue pullout from Syria while hitting the little remaining ISIS territorial caliphate hard, and from many directions. Will attack again from existing nearby base if it reforms. Will devastate Turkey economically if they hit Kurds. Create 20 mile safe zone….”

İbrahim Kalin, spokesperson of President Erdogan, replied Trump’s tweet and said, “Mr Trump terrorist can’t be your partners and allies.”

Trump’s top security adviser John Bolton held a meeting with Turkish counterparts in Ankara last week to guraantee that Turkish military won’t attack Kurds in Syria after US troops withdrawal. However, Ankara strictly denied Washington’s condition and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan snubbed Bolton as he refused to meet the US official.
